Video Contest in Honor of Banned Books Week – Enter Today!

The Library will be holding a video contest in honor of ALA’s Banned Books Week! Submit a short video (4 minutes or less) of you getting your read on with your favorite passage out of a banned or challenged book or quotes from one or more books found on a banned and challenged list.  You may record the reading with a video camera or mobile device.  If you do not have a recording device, contact kristen.cinar@stonybrook.edu for assistance.

Or, as an alternative, record your thoughts and opinions regarding censorship in the Library and the importance of having the freedom to read whatever you choose. Be as creative as you wish. Videos can be you reading, text quotations from books set to music, a mock interview of others and their thoughts on censorship, etc.  Be adventurous and see what you can come up with! Submit videos, questions, or comments to kristen.cinar@stonybrook.edu by Monday, September 21, 2015.

Clips will be combined from the best entries to create an official Library tribute celebrating our freedom to read during Banned Books Week, beginning September 27th.  The video will be aired on our social media sites. All participants will be entered in a drawing to win prizes.

Also, stop by the Central Reading Room on the week of the 27th to claim your complimentary Banned Books Week button to wear in support.
